Illuminators are 'must haves' for my makeup kit. They are a very important step in contouring the face by acting as a highlighter. This product also adds an effortless glow to the overall skin for many of my shoots and many can be applied solo or mixed into foundation.
Here I have Clarins Instant Light Complexion Perfector. This product is a liquid illuminator and comes on three gorgeous natural looking shades so it can be worn on its own or on top of makeup. Apply along the tops of the cheek bones using a synthetic foundation brush or with your finger tips. It instantly creates a long lasting dewy highlight to your complexion and is to be used after foundation but before powder. It has a light weight texture, ideal for all skin types and can be blended in very easily. The first shade, 'Rose Shimmer', has a pearl sheen which is great against many skin complexions. 'Champagne Shimmer' has a golden undertone but still iridescent and 'Bronze Shimmer' is gorgeous against darker tones.
Bobbi Brown's Shimmer Bricks adds a very subtle shimmer to the skin creating a luminous appearance. It comes in bars of colour creating options and is available in five very flattering shades. These powder based illuminators can be worn on their own, on top of your chosen blush or as an eyeshadow making it a multipurpose product. These Shimmer Bricks also add vibrancy and colour depending on your chosen shade. Its packaging also comes with a mirror built into the lid so it can be applied on the go with just the sweep of a powder brush.
MAC Strobe Cream is a liquid illuminator and can be worn on it's own or mixed into foundation. It posses very fine particles so, when applied all over the face, it doesn't appear too over powering or oily looking. It comes in a very neutral pearl shade and can be used against all skin tones. Strobe Cream falls under the skin care genre as it is very moisturising and gives the skin a well rested fresh appearance. I like to use it on the cheek bones or mixed into foundation. It also absorbs very easily and doesn't feel greasy at all.
